A new alternative festival mingles music and comedy with interactive art, cabaret and magic, perfect for both kids and those young at heart.

The Apple Cart is a new boutique day out boasting everything from Mercury winning musicians, award garnering comedians, conjuring Magic Circle members, interactive art happenings, family friendly village fete fun plus gourmet food to feast on and real ale to sup.

The music line up features London pop legends Saint Etienne and Patrick Wolf, comedy rock superstar Tim Minchin, Bolton songsmith Badly Drawn Boy, erstwhile Beta Band singer Steve Mason, Jazzie B’s Soul II Soul, the summery pop of Magic Numbers and acclaimed folk of James Yorkston. Chilly Gonzales brings his piano talk show from the Pigalle Club to headline the cabaret stage alongside 21st Century cabaret stars Bourgeois & Maurice and the hula hoop action of our favourite Marawa the Amazing.

There are DJ sets from gents with impeccable taste: BBC Worldwide’s Gilles Peterson, Andrew Weatherall playing the songs that inspired Screamadelica, Sean Rowley of Guilty Pleasures and the Joy Of Music and Dexy’s main man Kevin Rowland. With a comedy stage programmed by Off The Kerb expect a heavyweight line up and belly laughs coaxed by Marcus Brigstocke, Kevin Eldon, Paul Chowdhry and Jonathan Richardson. House of Fairytales artists Deborah Curtis and Gavin Turk bring their interactive Candlelit Matinee exclusively to Apple Cart and the Art Car Boot Fair will be driving over from their usual Brick Lane base to sell art from the boots of classic cars. Rag & Bow haul over their roaming vintage store if you fancy buying a new (old) frock, Venn St Market have everything from hog roasts to Japanese curries and Red Squirrel brewery are readying an Apple Cart ale for the Real Ale tent.
