This gorgeous double bill showcases two short works from international circus artists, exploiting razor-sharp power of rope and tightwires.
This evening of experimental circus opens with Pinta, a performance by Salla Hakanpaa that explores the potential of vertical ropes. She defies gravity in a beautiful spectacle that suspends her in mid-air, seemingly weightless.
There's more rope-play on offer from Hanna Moisala's WireDo, which draws on the Japanese art of Kinbaku to tie her up in elegant knots. Her body, rope, and tightwire become a highly-strung visual composition that explores the delicate balances at play in the human body, and questions what happens when we break with routine.
These works are part of CircusFest 2016, which unfolds at Roundhouse and Jackson's Lane. They're both made with the assistance of SIRKUS, which supports Finnish circus artists.
