Rasp Thorne & the Briars play "The Water Rats" in support of The Masonics. The Briars are Rasp Thorne, DeMorgan, Pete Moriarty, Rabbit Clare and Andy Marvell.

The first incarnation of Rasp Thorne & the Briars formed at the tail end of 2009 when Thorne met DeMorgan by chance at a G.G. Elvis gig. It was a suiting act for the music they would start to make together. The Briars really started to sharpen their barbs when Pete Moriarty showed up a few months later with an upside down electric guitar and a bad hangover. With addition and subtraction of a few drummers, violinists and a lapsteel player the Briars have come to nest as a lethal five piece, the ranting being smoothed out by Rabbit Clare on backing vocals and tambourine and Andy Marvell on drums.

With strong ties to the cabaret and live art world The Briars have been seen playing all sorts of venues. From the whiskey sleaze of Gypsy Hotel to the fetish freaks of Torture Garden, from properly posh "institutions" such at The Roundhouse to downright swanky theatres such as The Lowry and The Crucible, Rasp Thorne & the Briars have left their scratches on many an odd atmosphere.

Currently, they are working on a musical score and live set to be in the performance art/theatre show "Carnesky's Tarot Drome" premiering at The Old Vic Tunnels in September, 2012. Their debut album "The Lecher's Waltz" is scheduled for release in August, 2012.
