An upbeat and raucous alternative to carols and lacklustre Christmas parties…
Lips, London's all-woman pop choir, are bringing their legendary annual Christmas Concert to the Coronet Theatre and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Lips make a nuanced and upbeat wall of sound - just as likely to weave eastern European folk songs into dubstep as they are to belt out no-holds-barred Prince covers.
Recent live shows have seen sleazy favorites such as uber "Paparazzi" medley ft. Lady Gaga/Just Can’t get Enough/How Will I Know/Take On Me/Crazy For You/Always On My Mind, a twisted a capella version of 90s garage number "Flowers" as well as a tear-jerking take on Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek".
Lips return to their home turf after a whirldwind year including a spot on the main stage at Standon Calling, a TV appearance and a sell out show at Union Chapel in spring and will be putting their distinctive spin on an array of powerful pop hits, killer tunes and of course a classic Christmas number 1.
Support comes from from Tanya Auclair with her unique blend of organic and electronic, pop and experimental, using unusual rhythms, lush harmonies and touches of electronica and after-party fun provided by Another Night DJs, who will be taking to the stage after the choir playing non-stop 90s cuts til 3am, including pop, RnB, dance, hip hop, handbag, house and club classics.
