Warp Films is one of the true success stories of British independent cinema over the last few years.
From the earliest films produced by the erstwhile music label, like Chris Morris’ BAFTA winning, My Wrongs 8245-8249 & 117 and Chris Cunningham’s Rubber Johnny, it was clear that the company would champion original cinematic vision and not shy away from taking risks.
Warp Films has remained true that that original spirit, developing and supporting exciting new talent, while also helping to debunk the myth that British audiences don’t want to see British films. They’ve steadily built a brand and an audience with independent-minded quality films like Tyrannosaur, Four Lions, Kill List, Submarine and This is England (and the spin off TV series).
With a selection of clips and a short film or two, we’ll talk to Warp Films CEO and Producer Mark Herbert about how they find and develop new talent and explore the vision for the future of the label.
