A haunting an beautiful meditation on the life of Egyptian screen legend Hosni, star of 82 features between 1959 and 1991, whose mysterious death in London in 2001 set shockwaves through the Arab world. Using only archive footage from her films, this striking filmic montage creates a multi-faceted portrait of an iconic Arab actress and an elegy to Egypt's rich cinematic history.

Mon 8 Apr, 8.45pm, Hackney Picturehouse (+ I Am Dora discussion event)
This Birds Eye View Film Festival screening will be followed by an I Am Dora discussion event. More about I Am Dora A subjective and personal study, I am Dora is a collaboration between curator Jemma Desai and designer Claire Huss. The series explores how and why women identify with one another and what this means when the identification is with a flawed or misunderstood character. Each limited run printed edition launches with specially curated film programme aimed at encouraging a more subjective engagement with film and film theory.
