Standon Calling started with 25 friends, a swimming pool, a set of decks and a birthday BBQ, but has grown into one of the best boutique festivals around.

Musical highlights include Death in Vegas, Willy Mason, Field Music, Gabby Young and Other Animals, Revere, Golden Fable and Stealing Sheep. Non musical delights include the Undercovers Literary Lounge, the famous swimming pool, balloon rides, fancy dress competition, cinema, dog show, and boutique camping. But this festival is about so much more than the line-up- this year Standon Calling is all about adventure and the spirit of discovery. As Dr Livingstone famously said: “I’m prepared to go anywhere as long as it be forward.” Embark on a psychedelic fantasy safari across land, sea and air. You will cross countless frontiers and discover new worlds, long lost underwater cities, strange new species and the odd surviving dinosaur and much, much more. Leave the world you know behind and become a pirate queen, a freshly spliced fantasy creature, a madman armed with only his dreams and a bi-plane, a Mayan priestess braced for Armageddon in 2012 or a balloonist taking to the skies for the first time. Join Ghengis Khan’s journey to the gates of Europe or get lost in the desert before stumbling across the Sultan and his harem in their tent. Over one unpredictable weekend the fields of Standon will transform into every unexplored corner of the world and your imagination. Watch acrobats swing from the Amazonian branches of the tree bar, discover creatures of the deep in the swimming pool and dance late into the night with fantastical creatures in the Cowshed Club. Then in the early hours roam along the frontier’s series of dance outposts. The next morning take to the skies in a hot air balloon before crash landing at the feet of the giants of Gulliver’s Travels. Let’s bottle the spirit of adventure of past and future explorers and race the likes of Phileas Fogg, Tintin and Dr Doolittle in the search for buried treasure.
