Poor immigrant tailor Judah Loeb creates a Golem from the mud of the Thames and brings it to life.True-life songs and mesmerizing tales from the foggy corners of London’s docks.
Atmospheric Wapping Old Stairs is the backdrop for a victorian version of “the Golem”: an eerie story of match factories, blood-libel and grave robbing. After the story, join us in the historic “Town of Ramsgate” for a drink. This ancient little pub was frequented by the infamous “hanging” Judge Jeffreys.
Mudlarking: We will begin just as low tide starts to turn. It will be getting dark. If you want to go mudlarking before we start, arrive at 4.15pm. Wapping Old Stairs is one of the only ways onto the foreshore from the North bank of the Thames. Be aware that although there might be any number of treasures down there, it is VERY muddy and slippy- bring rubber boots and enter at your own risk!
Meet in a secret location near The Town of Ramsgate pub. (Wapping overground station.) Cost £2 per person Email neckingernell@yahoo.com for details of where to meet, what to bring and to reserve your place.
