If, like us, you like to start celebrating Christmas from December 1st, then this is for you.
An inaugural one-day festival, ADVENTurous, to be held at the wonderful Union Chapel.(This wonderfully atmospheric venue is currently threatened by development plans- sign the petition to protect its future here)
In the midst of struggling global economies, political transition and the apparent end of the world (according to the Mayan calendar at least!), the Christian season of Advent can be viewed as a sign of new arrivals, a world re-imagined, cultures disrupted and paradigms well and truly shifted.
Bringing together thinkers, activists and artists from different faith traditions (and none) for a day of exploration, debate and wonder, ADVENTurous is an event hosted jointly by Greenbelt and Union Chapel, drawing on a number of creative partners from a range of different networks – all with an interest in trying conspire hopefully towards a better tomorrow.
As well as contributions from renowned thinkers and speakers Mike Frost, Ann Pettifor, Ann Morisy, Abdul-Rehman Malik and Ruth Valerio, there will be artistry woven throughout the set-piece talks, panels and debate from Harry Baker by day, followed by an evening of great musicality with Iain Archer and Hope & Social.
And as if that wasn’t enough to wow your senses, there will also be a great visual arts exhibition hung around the venue – curated for us by Engedi Arts, who had to narrow down submissions from nearly 100 artists for this exhibition.
