For 48 hours, artists, hackers and musicians unite in what can only be described as a hackathonial frenzy. Put into teams, these creative folk will produce whatever they like, all from public data!
Art Hack brings together 50 hackers and 50 digital artists and musicians to create some amazing work over the space of 48 hours at Mozilla HQ in the heart of London.
The teams will be able to use any publicly available dataset, such as TFL's live transport feed or data from the Office of National Statistics. A number of private companies will be offering their own data and mentorship, including cloud communications specialist Twilio, social media monitoring company Brandwatch and interactive music apps developer Reactify. The brief is simply to "create something amazing" that will reframe the way we think about the data that surrounds us every day. This could be an interactive installation, a visual projection or an aural interpretation of footfall at the Olympics. The results will be showcased at a celebratory Digital Sizzle party at the gallery on 26 September 2012, plus, they've also got some super high level dudes and dudesses who will be mentoring and judging to choose the best of the best.
