Bringing their unique brand of high-energy, top-quality live poetry, Hammer & Tongue host their biggest ever national final.

The day kicks off with team slam events in the afternoon. Representatives of poetry from six different regions in the U.K are pitted against each other. The best performers (judged by you) take the regional, team-slam prize

In the evening, it's winner-takes-all as the individual slam kicks off in the main hall. Twenty four slam winners from across the U.K will compete against each other, attempting to impress the audience with their own individual styles of wordplay and performance.

Hammer & Tongue regularly provide a stage for aspiring artists to try out their work. Judged by the audiences in ‘slam’ competitions, this is poetry but not as we used to know it. Taking the competition element of rap battles, the stage craft of theatre and stand-up comedy’s relationship between audience and performer, these poets play to the crowd who hold up score-cards to determine who the greatest wordsmith is.
