During Internet Week Europe, our expert panel looks at the renewed interest in longform journalism online
The accepted wisdom has been that publishers should produce content for digital platforms in short, bite-sized chunks. However with new technologies enabling publishers to shift their focus to longer, more in-depth articles, we ask a panel of experts: are we ready to rewrite the rules for content online?
The panel will be discussing shifts in reading habits, how new platforms are driving change and the ways to keep long-form online financially viable.
Simon Frantz (Deputy Editor, BBC Future)
Simon is the Deputy Editor at BBC Future as well as creator of Nobel Prize Watch and former Editor of Nobelprize.org.
Bobbie Johnson (Co-founder, Matter)
Bobbie is the co-founder of Kickstarted longform journalism platform, Matter. He is also European editor at GigaOM and a former technology correspondent for The Guardian.
Brigid Hains (Editor, Aeon Magazine)
Brigid is the Editor and Co-founder of Aeon, a new digital magazine of ideas and culture, which publishes one longform essay a day and launched in October 2012. Chaired by Alex Capes (Digital Director, The Church of London)
