Join CND General Secretary Kate Hudson as she discusses her new book, covering the inside story of six decades of this movement.

2018 is the 60th anniversary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament; founded in 1958 at the height of the Cold War, CND has been a powerful collective voice against the dangers of nuclear weapons.

Due for publication early this year, Kate Hudson’s new book provides detailed coverage of the inside story of six decades of CND. This book is timed to coincide with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament’s 60th anniversary, drawing on archive material and interviews with activists from across the decades, and situating CND’s current work in the context of the Trump presidency and increasing global tensions around nuclear weapons.

Kate Hudson has been General Secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament since September 2010. Prior to this she served as the organisation's Chair from 2003. She is a leading anti-nuclear and anti-war campaigner nationally and internationally. She is also author of CND Now More than Ever: The Story of a Peace Movement.

Joining Hudson will be Mary Kaldor, Professor of Global Governance and Director of the Conflict and Civil Society Research Unit in the LSE Department of International Development. Professor Kaldor also directs the unit’s largest research project, the Conflict Research Programme (CRP), an international DFID-funded partnership investigating public authority, through a theoretical lens of the political marketplace and the concept of civicness, across a range of countries in Africa and the Middle East.
