Open City Docs Fest presents an evening of live performances featuring the unusual work of Israeli documentary filmmaker and video artist Avi Mograbi.
Something close to video as live performance, Open City Docs Fest presents two of Avi Mograbi's works:
GREEDYADAM (Noam Enbar + Adam Scheflan + Ariel Armoni)
One continuous shot from Avi Mograbi's feature film August: A Moment Before the Eruption is slowed down to a tiny proportion of it's original speed to become an exaggerated and 'symbolic' backdrop from a live musical performance. At this pace the scene gains a 'metaphorical' value. An innovative blend of music and film.
THE DETAILS: A LIVE MULTI-SCREEN VIDEO COMPOSITION BY AVI MOGRABI & NOAM ENBAR
Scenes about the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967 are screened simultaneously on four screens and presented to create a non-linear parallel chaotic space. The piece becomes a disturbing representation of the filmmaker’s view of the reality of the occupied terrirories as well as the act of documentation itself.
Open City Docs Fest aims to to challenge ideas existing ideas about the limits of documentaries. Their series is designed to provoke debate and open minds through films about real life and to lend an ear to those voices that are not often heard.
