The Lab film festival is an annual event showcasing the works and working practice of new film makers and film art, alongside a year-round educational development programme.

The Lab Film Festival will open on 21st June with a Gala and Launch Party at Mother Studios space, in the Hackney Wicked neighbourhood.

 Screenings, events and workshops are planned to take place in galleries, studios, cinema across Hackney, Tower Hamlet, Newham for a whole week.

What makes them different, is the aim of putting together a classic film festival pattern of screening, competition and awards and a year-round educational development programme. Winners will get the chance to participate in high-level training projects to develop their career even further.
