Capturing Mercy's unique grace, strength and evocative power, Dominique Mercy danse Pina Bausch looks back over his esteemed career, with testimony from Pina Bausch.
Dominique Mercy met Pina Bausch in the United States in 1972, which marked the beginning of an intense collaboration between the dancer and the choreographer. Regis Obadia paints an intimate portrait of the dancer, saluting the role of the performer as the choreographer’s dreamed messenger. Dominique Mercy is a virtuoso who lives the work, which he transposes with his body and speech, and creates by giving shape to the creative expression of the choreographer. The film captures his unique grace, strength and evocative power, and looks back over his career, with testimony from Pina Bausch, as well as French choreographers Françoise Adret and Jean Babilée, Suzanne Linke, Carolyn Carlson, and dancers from the Wuppertal Tanztheater.
