Co-curated by young artists and choreographers from the yearlong course, the festival explores choreography through live performance, installation, film exhibitions, talks and participatory events.

12pm–2pm: Review-writing workshop with Sanjoy Roy, Research Studio

A review-writing workshop which, rather than focusing on what to write about and how to judge it, considers where we write from and who we write to. It looks at dance writing as creation as well as representation, including practical writing tasks using video clips. Designed for (but not limited to) people aged 14–21 years.

Advance booking essential, to reserve a place contact:info@siobhandavies.com / 020 7091 9650

Presented in partnership with Dance Umbrella.

3pm–4.30pm: An insight into Next Choreography, Roof Studio

An informal session led by Next Choreography artist facilitator Charlotte Spencer and Next Choreography participants, inviting audiences to join them on a journey through the choreographic process. During the session they will share the essence of theirNext Choreography experience and elements of the course that have excited them most this year.

2pm–7pm: 13 answers, 56 words, First Floor Landing

“I wanted to challenge myself.” ”I’ve fulfilled my hunger for new ideas.” “Dancing in whatever way will always make me smile.” “It hasn’t answered everything and I’m glad.”

A sound installation of reflections and statements from Next Choreography 2014/15 participants sharing what the course means to them, why they joined the course, what they’ve learnt, what has changed for them throughout the course and how they think they’ll make use of their experiences in the future.

Made by Sound Artist James Hynes with creative input from Next Choreography participants Charlie Burt, Aura Saxen and Emily Harris.

2pm–7pm: Film Screenings, Research Studio

A series of films curated by artist Lucy Cash in collaboration withNext Choreography participants. Inspired by a workshop led by Lucy Cash during term one of the Next Choreography course, participants invited Cash to help curate a selection of choreographic films for the festival. Each of the films represent the participants response to the consideration of energy, space and time in movement. The films selected aim to question the difference between choreographed and directed movement.

Times TBC: Dyad, Performed in various locations throughout the Studios

A new performance work created by Next Choreographyparticipant Cherilyn Albert using the same choreography, but different structures, two movers and two different pathways. Dancers explore the building on a loop, mapping out collated sensory observations. The inspiration for this work was taken from Next Choreography session facilitated by Charlotte Spencer on making connections and opening senses.

Times TBC: Tackling Creative PMS (Predominantly Male Systems), Roof Studio

Tackling Creative PMS (Predominantly Male Systems) is a presented research project by Next Choreography participant Charlie Burt highlighting the hugely disproportionate gender imbalance that exists in the top tiers of the Arts. This exhibition explores the lack of high profile female creative artists and questions why the voices of women are so largely absent.

The exhibition includes extracts of interviews with:

Veronica Jobbins, Head of Learning and Participation (Dance) at Trinity Laban
Emma Gladstone, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Dance Umbrella
Anneliese Davidsen, Executive Director at the Unicorn Theatre
Bim Malcomson, Choreographer, Teacher, Mentor
Rebecca McCutcheon, Director of theatre and site specific performance
Siobhan Davies, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Siobhan Davies Dance
Jude Kelly, Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre

2pm–7pm: A Re-Search - A study of land around Siobhan Davies Studios, First Floor

Next Choreography participant Amy Harris invites audiences to notice the geography around Siobhan Davies Studios through an exhibition of two abstract maps of the local area. The maps came from a desire to portray elements of geography that are absent from the influential, but partial road map. In making them Amy invited participants to travel slower and read the landscape for its stories and details. Their recorded locations and descriptions were collated into a visual artwork in order to see the spatial tendencies and disparities.

5pm–6.30pm: An interactive performance piece by Charlotte Spencer

Limited spaces, booking essential, to reserve a place contact:info@siobhandavies.com / 020 7091 9650

7pm–8.30pm: Douglas by Robbie Synge (with post-show talk), Roof Studio

Douglas stems from physical actions imagined by choreographer and dance artist Robbie Synge while working on various daily tasks at home. The work was developed throughout 2014, outdoors and in Evanton Village Hall, Ross-shire.
