Immerse yourself in the vision of Brazil conjured by the Olivier Award-winning choreographer’s spectacular new dance piece, a poem in movement.

Dates and Times: Tue 07 - Fri 10 May, 19:30.

Deborah Colker Dance Company’s latest work combines classical, contemporary, popular and ritual dances in a rich and heady mix. The performance blends poetry and spectacular film by Cláudio Assis with a virtuosic dance troupe covered with mud: ‘crab men’ who must try to survive in a violent environment.

Inspired by poet João Cabral de Melo Neto’s masterpiece 'Cão sem Plumas', which traces the mythology and people of Brazil's Capibaribe River while evoking all the rivers of the world, the piece is about life on the edge, dehumanisation and exuberance in the face of suffering and tragedy. It speaks of our reliance upon and disregard for the natural environment, and the inequalities of Brazilian life.

Dog Without Feathers, which won the international Prix Benois de la Danse 2018, is a new direction for Colker, who choreographed the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games.
