Mover Shaker

Dance! Dance! Dance! We can't get enough of it! It's one of the most accessible art forms - each and every one of us has dabbled one way or another. Chances are, you love it.

Our Guest Editor this week is Emma Gladstone, a true dance industry mover-shaker. Her early career included dancing with iconic choreographer Lea Anderson (The Cholmondeleys), co-founding Adventures in Motion Pictures (now New Adventures) with Matthew Bourne (think of the all male Swan Lake that inspired Billy Elliot), and was Artistic Programmer & Producer at Sadler's Wells.

Since 2013 she's been the Artistic Director of Dance Umbrella - London's international dance festival, celebrating 21st century choreography across the capital. Ahead of this years festival (7-22 October) Emma talks to writer Eli Goldstone about the line-up, censorship, empowering woman choreographers, and emerging dance talent from around the world.

In our Magazine section writer Bethan Wood talks to choreographer Lea Anderson and film maker Marisa Zanotti about their joint project 'The Pan's People Papers' - inspired by 70s TOTP dancers Pans People! Classic!

For those of you who have ever used the top music streaming website and app Mixcloud - some awesome news: they've been nominated for a Lovie Award! Support them by voting here before 22 September. Insider information: Mixcloud co-founder Nikhil Shah is also behind Dance Club, a new project at the intersection between a club night, a dance class and a dance show. If that isn't a good enough reason to vote for Mixcloud, then we dunno what is. Go on, vote!
