Soundcrash and CME present an utterly unique show courtesy of the delightfully singular Nordic bands Pepe Deluxé and Husky Rescue

This will be the first time ever that Pepe Deluxé play live in the UK so make sure you don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity to see something completely out of the ordinary.

Finland’s Husky Rescue took shape in the early 21st century, as Marko Nyberg pulled together 20-odd musician pals to record. Since that initial gathering, the project has only picked up speed. Between 2004 and 2010, Husky Rescue has released three full-length albums as well as a plethora of singles and EPs. Across these albums one sees the growth of Marko’s skill, from a young artist honing his craft to a man who knows exactly where he is going. Hard to place into any easy genre classification but unique and beautiful, Husky Rescue’s sound reconstitutes pieces of alt. country, haunting disco, and pop into an incomparably distinctive, cinematic universe, laced with lyrics of love delivered with a longing melancholy.

In January 2012 Pepe Deluxé – aka Finland’s James Spectrum and Sweden’s Paul Malmström – released ‘Queen of the Wave’, an album aptly described by Pop Matters as “the most impressive album ever painstakingly assembled across space and time” -10/10. It’s an exhilarating, adventurous, and boldly experimental album ( “…an odyssey bursting with energy, colour and invention” – MusicOMH 4/5) in which Pepe Deluxé mixed up beats, psychedelia, funk and pop, like a pair of mad scientists, into a high-octane sonic explosion of a record. Inspired by the themes of Atlantis, Venus, sci-fi futurism and reincarnation – all written of in the mystical 19th Century novel ‘A Dweller On Two Planets’ – ‘Queen of the Wave’ could be described as the sound of a deliciously bizarre pop-opera, one which sonically “…makes Queen or Kanye’s madly eclectic sonic excesses look like a campfire strum-along” – Mixmag. Incredibly elusive, Pepe Deluxé have never actually played in the UK, making this an extraordinary opportunity to see one of the most original and idiosyncratic bands bring their fad-resistant music to life. Make sure you take it.

It might be hard to see what could possibly better the original ‘Queen of the Wave’ heralded as “the most ambitious, unique and fantastical pop opera this side of the sun.” – Artrocker (Album of the Month). Simple. Never underestimate the inventive and creative powerhouse that is Pepe Deluxé!
