Don’t let the frost on the ground fool you: Oval Space is heating up this winter with two of France’s most influential electronic artists heading down in February.

Gallic techno icon Laurent Garnier will be returning for his third headline performance at Oval Space, and will be joined by his one-time protégé turned legendary Parisian jock DJ Deep.

Having cut his teeth at the Hacienda in the 1980s, Garnier’s thirty year love affair with dance music in all styles and textures has seen him hold DJ residencies in Manchester, New York and Paris; release a series of records for F Communications that have long passed into dance music myth; as well as launch a global radio station, compose music for ballets and film soundtracks, and even author a bestselling book.

Quite simply, Laurent Garnier is not just a DJ. He’s an electronic music icon, a French cultural touchstone, and a deeply treasured part of recent techno history.

He’s joined by consummate DJ’s DJ, and Deeply Rooted founder, DJ Deep. The Parisian has played in Bethnal Green three times before, setting Oval Space and The Pickle Factory on fire on each occasion.

A protégé of Garnier and resident of Rex Club’s infamous Legends party series, DJ Deep is now widely regarded as Paris’ most influential and perennially on-point house and techno selector. Although Deep is proudly a DJ first and foremost, his production career reads like a who’s who of tasteful labels old and new: releasing on Deeply Rooted, Kaoz Theory, Rekids and Parlophone, working with frequent collaborator Roman Poncet, and remixing house royalty Kerri Chandler and St Germain.
