Line-up: Rrose + NWRMNTC + L-Shape (live) + Polanski + Choronzon

KAOS welcome the return of Rrose to London this month with a live appearance (DJ set), photography residency and a special radio mix for their monthly Rinse FM show.

In 2012, Rrose launched Eaux, a label for solo productions and collaborations and in 2016 created the track Emboli for the split release on Khemia with Orphx. Last year he released his first album Hymn to Moisture described by Pitchfork as "an exploration of the limits of perception—an ode to the way that the self, under the right conditions, can disappear into the music. If Rrose is an alter ego, then Hymn to Moisture is an ode to ego death."

Rrose is “a persona, a political statement, an exploration of identity, meant to provide some magic in the performance space.”

NWRMNTC (pronounced as /new romantic/) is the project of musician and sound designer Ana Quiroga in which she explores new ways of music storytelling and multimedia practices through mystic and experimental cinematic soundscapes.

Presented at Somerset House Studios, she has also performed at MUTEK Montréal, MUTEK Argentina, Sónar HK, Corsica Studios, NTS Radio and KAOS among others.

Ana is currently working on new releases and also collaborating with CLON in audiovisual and VR projects. They are presently touring META AV, a game simulation by CLON with a live soundtrack by NWRMNTC.

Over the last 10 years, Ana has produced electronic music and designed sound for film, audiovisual performances and multimedia projects. She was also half of the duo LCC who released two albums on Editions Mego.

Merging ambient drones and textures with an assault of polyrhythmic percussive sounds amalgamating with morphing noise elements, L shape is an upcoming experimental electronic artist from the UK. L-Shape formed in 2016 and describes his sound as Violent Sound / Beautiful Noise.

Making his recorded debut on the Various ‎- Modularism 1 - Music From Somewhere On The Spectrum collaborative album for Law & Auder Records, he is now working on his own forthcoming releases with an Ep on Khemia scheduled for the autumn.

For Polanski, 2020 marks two decades at the 'controls of the dance floor'. The anniversary is symbolised with porcelain, solid yet brittle, as with the emotions he seeks to evoke with his DJ sets. Never bound to one musical style, whether as DJ, remixer or solo producer, Polanski tries to bridge the gap between rhythmic grooves and more experimental styles of dance music.

Promoter and resident DJ of two London-based events; BLANC, his solo project and Volt, which he co-runs with Antonio de Angeli. With the rapid growth of the latter he reaffirmed his status as a selector, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry, whilst at BLANC he continues to invite lesser known artists and support local and international up-and-coming talent.

2020 sees the return of the Volt events series and marks the 7th anniversary of BLANC.

Polanski's latest remix for Torque is due on 28th February 2020 on Trialz Records.

Over the past 16 years Choronzon has performed at hundreds of clubs, events and festivals across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East where he has shared stages with the likes of Orphx, Rrose, Silent Servant, Ancient Methods, Samuel Kerridge, Esplendor Geometrico, Broken English Club, Paula Temple, Phase Fatale, JK Flesh and British Murder Boys. He has made guest appearances for the CTM Festival at Tresor (Berlin), Fasma Festival (Athens), Forte Festival (Portugal) (with Mia Zabelka and Kira O'Reilly), Antiworld at Brixton Academy, Temple and Astron Bar (Athens) and Gegen at KitKat Club (Berlin). He recently curated The Boiler Room: Kaos London Edition and has created podcasts for New Brvtalism, Phormix and Mindless (Morocco). He runs Khemia Records and also curates the Kaos London residency on Rinse FM and the Kaos London Podcast series. Most recently he played alongside Drew Mcdowall and Hiro Kone for Exist Festival, the first ever electronic music festival in Palestine.
