YOU ME BUM BUM TRAIN returns with a brand new show: book your ticket or become a volunteer!
Oh my lordy! They're back with a brand spanking new show for 2015, running Sept - Oct 2015 - epic! Many of our readers will be clued up with what the fuss is all about - and have probably been a 'Passenger' or a 'Volunteer'. If that's you and you'd like to get involved - shortcut to the bottom of this and click on their volunteer link to fill out the form - nice and easy. However, some of you may be asking 'You Me, what?!' If that's the case - here's the spiel baby! You Me Bum Bum Train is a magical journey in which people are able to go beyond their everyday lives and have a range of experiences that would not normally be possible within one lifetime. Bananas!
Each show is based in an unexpected location. A disused building is transformed by a team of volunteers to host each new adventure. Tickets are increasingly difficult to get hold of; in 2011 80,000 people attempted to buy a ticket from our goodselves - and totally crashed our site in under a minute! And in 2012 You Me Bum Bum Train became the Barbican’s fastest ever selling show.
In the words of the New York Times, You Me Bum Bum Train ‘redefines what it means to be part of an audience’. Audience members or ‘Passengers’ enter into the experience alone and are catapulted into a series of hyper-real scenarios in which they experience what it would be like to be in someone else's shoes, to be uninhibited, and unconstrained by the expectation of others. Individual passengers are free to explore who they are in circumstances normally inaccessible to them.
You Me Bum Bum Train exists because so many people have believed in the concept and donated their time and energy in order to create a unique experience for ticket holders. Anyone who has volunteered on the show will have experienced the electric atmosphere created through the combined effort and commitment of so many. The show is not for profit; it's a work of passion, which creates a meaningful experience for passengers and volunteers alike. You Me Bum Bum Train works with existing outreach programmes and community groups to provide work experience and training opportunities for those involved.
