To coincide with the UK Census in March 2011, Motiroti is asking What Counts - and what doesn't count? - in the metrics that help the UK to understand itself as a changing society. In a time when UK media headline conversations include talk of coffee-table Islamophobia and Prime Minister David Cameron's “muscular liberalism”, and take place in an age of increasingly open information, it's never been more important to explore how data can be accessed and analysed to help us understand who we are and how we interrelate. Motiroti welcomes proposals from practitioners working individually or collectively, in any discipline and art form, and from those based in the UK and internationally, including international collaborations.
