Opportunity: Complicite - IdeasTap Inspires
Britain's leading devised theatre-makers Complicite are calling all performers, directors, set and costume, lighting, sound, and video designers to take part in in a series of free workshops. From this, they will assemble a company of up to 20 members to devise a new piece of theatre to be performed in front of an invited audience.
The first stage will take place in Birmingham (7 and 8 June) and London (14 and 15 June) and includes workshops for 300 IdeasTap theatremakers. Stage two will take place in London (Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July). Stage three, no more that 20 participants will be chosen to perform in London to an invited audience on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September.
- Two hundred performers will be given an insight into the skills needed to be part of an ensemble like Complicite.
- Forty directors will take part in workshops exploring how to shape and guide the multiple voices of a collaborative ensemble.
- Sixty set and costume designers, lighting designers, sound designers, and video designers will look at how to rapidly generate and mock up design ideas in response to the constantly changing needs of a devising group, and explore strategies for using design as the driver for the devising process.
You do not have to have had any formal training, or have been in a professional production but it is important that you are able to demonstrate a commitment to performance, for example, through participation in a local drama club, university, vocational drama training, or youth theatre. All workshops will be led by experienced Complicite performers, directors and designers.
Deadline for applying is Monday 26th May at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 18 to 30.
