A Million Minutes- artists' brief & call for applications
Artists, performers, writers, makers and musicians are bringing intriguing, delightful and challenging things to light in Archway and Finsbury Park for A Million Minutes. So far these have included flying mothers, charity shop poetry, human clocks, singing traffic wardens, hidden responsibilities of local people and rarely glimpsed places. Collecting, making, testing, sharing and showing are happening in public as new work is developed with local people and their everyday experiences of these neighbourhoods over two years (approximately one million minutes).
A broad spectrum of artists including writers, musicians, performers, fine artists and craftspeople, and a variety of host organisations in Archway and Finsbury Park, are paired for four months. Each artist commits to a regular weekly presence (or similar as agreed to suit specific situations) in the host organisation, with participatory research and activity producing at least one public outcome. Six Hostings were commissioned in 2012 with a further four coming up in September 2013.
