The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a very special time in the life of capital - a phenomenal sporting event, an opportunity to revitalize the East end of London and an unrivalled global showcase for London.
London is a world-class creative city, our galleries, museums, theatres, artists, architects and designers are renowned across the globe. As the host city, this puts London in an ideal position to highlight the breadth, scope and imagination that the entire culture of the city offers.
This unique role is designed to act as a focal point and catalyst for the city's cultural offer leading up and during Games time, including the Cultural Olympiad, as well as other activities being developed by the city's artistic and institutions.
Working to the Head of Culture in the Mayor's Office candidates will be expected to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of arts and culture in London.
Candidates will be expected to:
* Work to ensure London showcases the best of its creative talent and ideas through its 2012 cultural offer.
* Co-ordinate and manage the 2012 City Planning Group for Culture and related work programmes, building a picture of all creative activity happening during this period.
* Act as a catalyst/broker and main point of contact for 2012 cultural activity in the capital.
* Support the London Cultural Strategy Group and manage the LOCOG Inspire Mark Programme for London
* Ensure that London> '> s cultural offer is fully integrated into the overall promotion and marketing of the city.
