Job Title: Research and Projects Assistant

Reporting to: International Director

Working Schedule: 3 days per week (9.30am – 6pm)

Salary: £20,000 pro rata

Start Date: As soon as possible

Cape Farewell is seeking a Research and Projects Asssistant. Paid (3 days per week, £20k pro rata.).

Cape Farewell is on the search for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join its small and hard working London team. Working in co-operation with the International Director and Programme Director, the Research and Projects Assistant will play a key role in identifying and securing new funding streams to build the programme, whilst overseeing the day to day management of the office and assisting on projects. Some fundraising knowledge and experience, excellent research and copy writing skills, and an interest in the arts and/or environment are essential.

Job Description

Responsibilities to include

GRANTWRITING AND REPORTING

Fundraising for the continued expansion of Cape Farewell's wide programme of work is the key focus of this role. The ideal candidate will be adept at researching fundraising avenues (inc. UK and International Trusts and Public Grants, Individual Donors, Corporate Sponsorship) and pulling together research and statistics into precise, tailored bids (and initial approaches). Excellent copywriting is essential. The Assistant will also aid the International Director and Programme Director in their own grant writing, and the building of budgets and projections - both for bid and reporting purposes, and will aid in the reporting of received grants: text, tracking and analysing audience numbers and website stats.

OFFICE

Day to day office management: Arrange VISA applications, booking travels & accommodation, arranging post (stamps, packages etc), ordering stationary, office groceries, merchandise management, filing/archiving, correspondence, database management, storage management (Salisbury), taking minutes for board meetings, responding to general enquiries (phone, mail and post), logging invoices and receipts to pass onto Programme Director and Finance Manager, keeping track of your own working hours and holidays and communicate that with Programme Director.

WEBSITE

Analysing and tracking hits, some general updating & maintenance (text and images).

SOCIAL MEDIA

Assist in the development of social media strategy, expanding and intensifying social media channels, regularly updating social media and linking them with Cape Farewell partner organisations. Writing monthly e-bulletins and updating mailing lists. 

PRESS

Archiving articles, linking contacts to projects, writing and designing press releases and newsletters, approach and follow up with press contacts (phone and email) organise Cape Farewell merchandising, using Cape Farewell back catalogue, promoting our activities, online and offline

GENERAL PROJECT ASSISTANCE

Closely collaborating with the International Director and Programme Director on all Cape Farewell projects. Developing strategies and ideas, production, assistance in compiling proposals, presentations and budgets to reach our objectives. Some assistance and attendance at events in and out of office hours may also be required.
