Job Opportunity: Project Management Support Assistant, Science Museum

 

Salary: £18,000 - £21,000 per annum

Fixed-term contract until October 2016.

Do you have excellent organisational and administrative skills? Are you interested in museums and galleries, and would you like to play a key supporting role on a range of forthcoming new temporary exhibitions? 
   
You will provide coordination and administration support to the Exhibitions Team across the forthcoming exhibitions, Cosmonauts and Robots. These are both temporary exhibitions due to open in September 2015 and September 2016 respectively. 

Your support will cover all matters of administration, including facilitation and effective use of staff, equipment, budgets and time. Coordination and administration in this context ranges from routine duties in the office, at meetings and on site, through to higher-level planning, analysis and stakeholder management. This will be under direction and guidance from the Project Leader and includes both the internal team and any consultants.

The role will be offered on a fixed-term contract until October 2016. 
 
Candidate Profile

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience and achievements in office management or high-level administrative role

  • Demonstrable experience of working with minimal direction in a busy environment

  • Budget and financial experience

  • Experience of coordinating projects from idea to delivery

Skills, Knowledge and Relevant Qualifications

  • Highly computer literate with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and use of internet as a research tool

  • Ability to undertake a variety of different sourcing or research tasks

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including minuting meetings

  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a wide range of contacts at different levels

  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and proven ability to record information accurately

  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing tasks

  • Numerical ability

  • Ability to read a design drawing desirable

  • Awareness of project management principles, ideally with some exposure to PRINCE2 methodology, and willingness to undergo on-the-job training to the extent required
