Job Opportunity: Press and Media Relations Manager, Almeida Theatre
salary: c £32k or equivalent per annum dependent on experience
This is a full time permanent role, but there is some flexibility for the right person.Hours: Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm with additional hours as required for press nights and other evening events
Holiday: 20 days a year rising to 25 after two years’ service
Pension: 3% contribution, if matched by the employee, after 6 months service
The Almeida is one of the leading producing theatres in the country and has an international reputation for the highest standards of writing, directing and producing. The heart of the theatre’s vision is to make bold work which challenges and questions theatre, and the world we live in. Almeida brings together the most exciting artists to interrogate, provoke, inspire and entertain the audiences through new writing and reinvigorated classics. Led by Artistic Director Rupert Goold, the theatre attracts an average annual audience of 100,000 to their Almeida Street, Islington base, and thousands more to their international transfers. Almeida currently has productions programmed in 4 theatres in London and New York, and additionally two international and UK tours. Recent successes include an unprecedented win of eight Olivier awards in 2014, and an exceptional list of West End transfers (Chimerica, Ghosts, 1984, King Charles III and Oresteia) following sell-out runs at the Almeida.
The Press and Media Relations Manager will manage the theatre's significant relationships with the media, help shape Almeida’s organisational narrative and support the marketing team in delivering audiences to our work.
The successful candidate will have impressive media contacts, excellent communication skills, high energy, imagination, intelligence and a genuine enthusiasm for theatre. They will be able to demonstrate professional experience of developing and maintaining successful relationships within the sector and have the ability to handle a number of different projects simultaneously.
