Job Opportunity: Managing Director, Whitechapel Gallery
Role
The Whitechapel Gallery is recruiting for a Managing Director; the successful applicant will have outstanding experience in the senior financial and operational management of charities, and strong leadership skills. The post has principal responsibility for ensuring the effective operational management of the Whitechapel Gallery so that it can deliver its artistic objectives and mission statement against clear KPIs and income generation targets.
Responsible for strategic, corporate and business planning and effective performance management across the organisation, the Managing Director leads the senior management of all governance arrangements and operating systems, administration and finance, strategic business planning, building management, visitor services, commercial operations (including retail, venue hire, contracts and tenders), personnel and IT.
The Managing Director reports to the Director, has direct line management responsibility for the Administration Manager, Finance Manager, Head of Commercial Enterprises, Head of Operations, and Head of Visitor Services, and works closely with team leaders and middle managers to deliver the Whitechapel Gallery’s organisational mission and objectives as agreed by the Board of Trustees.
Conditions of work·
- Full time permanent position
- Salary: Negotiable
- Hours of work: 9:30am – 5:45pm Monday to Friday.
- The period of notice is 3 months in writing for either party
- Probation period: 3 month
