Job Opportunity: Events Manager, Gallery and Private Events, Tate
Location: Millbank, London
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Contract: Full time, temporary until August 2015 (maternity cover)
The Gallery & Private Events team is responsible for the operational and logistical management of events hosted at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, including the opening events to launch the new Tate Modern in June 16, as well as other cultivation, advocacy and private events that generate income for the benefit of Tate.
About the role
As Events Manager, Gallery and Private Events you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of up to 150 events every year, including the opening events of the new Tate Modern.
You will be responsible for ensuring that Tate’s operational procedures, integrity and high standards are upheld at all times. In order to plan and deliver this extensive programme of events, you’ll pride yourself on developing creative and collaborative relationships, both internally and externally. This will mean working closely with the Head of Gallery & Private Events on planning objectives and the team’s priorities, while negotiating suppliers and costs and overseeing the work of the Events Officer. Understanding the needs of artists, curators and sponsors, and communicating clearly with the Tate External Relations and Development Teams, will all be crucial to your success.
About you
Thanks to similar experience, you’ll demonstrate the ability to manage events in historic or cultural settings that are open to the public. You’ll have a proven track record of budget management and working with various event suppliers – making the best use of your project management skills. A good eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a flexible approach are just some of the qualities you’ll need, as well as computer literacy.
