Job Opportunity: Development Manager, South London Gallery
Fixed Term Contract to October 2016 with potential for extension.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm with occasional evenings.
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 depending on experience
The South London Gallery (SLG) is embarking on a period of significant growth and is seeking a Development Manager to work alongside the Head of Development on a range of capital and revenue fundraising initiatives. The Development Manager is a new post and will be responsible for maintaining the organisation’s relationships with individual donors and corporate supporters. The postholder will bring excellent communication and event organisation skills, and an ability to build relationships with a range of donors in order to maximise fundraising opportunities for the gallery's revenue and capital projects.
Knowledge and experience
A relevant degree or equivalent experience
Proven experience in building relationships with individuals, and attracting and retaining their financial support, ideally in an arts fundraising context
Experience of implementing fundraising campaigns and/or strategies
Knowledge of current best practice in fundraising from individuals including Gift Aid
Knowledge of the contemporary visual arts
Experience of planning and managing fundraising or other events
Experience of organising, planning and prioritising workloads effectively and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Experience of using database systems and knowledge of data protection legislation
Experience of confidently communicating with supporters
