Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking a Consultant to work alongside the HRW Film Festival publicists at Sarah Harvey Publicity to provide marketing and outreach services. For the purpose of this assignment, the Consultant will report directly to the Senior Program Manager, Film Festival Marketing and Outreach.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with HRW to execute the festival digital marketing strategy to raise awareness of the festival across social media. This will include helping to craft engaging social media content;
2. Coordinate outreach to increase audience attendance at film screenings and events;
3. Conduct research to identify potential UK community groups that serve people of different ages and diverse backgrounds, university programmes, cultural centers, single-issue organisations and other organisations who could promote the HRW Film Festival to their constituencies;
4. Identify themes and interest areas within the content of films being shown and strategize how to best promote the festival films to relevant niche audiences throughout London;
5. Create and distribute outreach materials including flyers, printed programs and email blasts,
6. Research the most relevant London-based events listing websites and newsletters to promote the festival and raise visibility of both individual films and the festival;
7. Coordinate festival volunteers to assist in digital marketing and outreach; and
8. Provide a final written outreach report detailing the scope of the outreach work as well as an evaluation for areas for improvement for the year ahead.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated experience in promoting arts and cultural events and creating content for social media campaigns.
2. Demonstrated understanding of and passion for film and human rights.
3. Knowledge of existing London-based community organisations and arts/cultural groups.
4. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and spoken English.
5. Exceptional computer literacy skills. HTML and Adobe Photoshop skills a plus.
Other: Applicants for this position must possess current work authorization valid for the duration of the contract.
Contract duration: January 5, 2015 through April 18, 2015
