HELP THE COB GALLERY PUBLISH MEASURING ELVIS BY NINA FOWLER
The Cob Gallery has just announced its next collaboration with artist Nina Fowler.
Measuring Elvis will be the first full catalogue of the artists' work to date. The key aim of this project is to produce a desirable and relevant book, which will include in depth analysis of Fowler's key drawing series, as well as independent essays written about Fowler and her practice.
The book will expose the intensive research methods used by the artist and feature excerpts from sketchbooks alongside images of work in progress. This will allow the book to fully explore the processes used by Fowler in meticulously building her large scale drawings.
Alongside showcasing the hidden processes employed by the artist, the book will also seek to showcase Nina as the extraordinary draughts-woman she is.
With her enigmatic drawings lending themselves perfectly to a book format, Measuring Elvis will be an extension of the artist’s unique aesthetic - beautifully designed in close collaboration with the artist herself.
The book will offer the same wide appeal as Fowler's art, attracting cinema or design enthusiasts to fine art admirers or collectors alike.
Steeped in the saturated glitz of golden-era Hollywood, Fowler’s work explores the contrast of the surface’s shimmer and an anxiety over the emptiness it might conceal.
