Gold for London "Warmest City in the World"

In the past London was seen as a bit of a cold, unapproachable city. But in the last two weeks the games makers and locals made London feel like the warmest city on the planet.

McCann Health, the world’s most connected health and wellness agency is spearheading a campaign to keep the buzz going.

Their initiative is to get ordinary Londoners to share their gems of local knowledge by pinning on an Ask Londoners badge that encourages tourists to ask them for the best bits of London.

By leveraging its ability to spark conversations, the Bloomsbury-based agency is encouraging Londoners not only to show their friendly side to tourists, but also to be positively helpful to anyone who is new to the capital.

This week teams of friendly Londoners will be out and about around central London and the East End providing unique local London info to anyone who may want it and handing out badges to willing Londoners who want to share their own local knowledge.

“We want Londoners to do what they do best and talk about London” says deputy creative director Matt Broughton. “By showing that Londoners have a great knowledge of their city that simply cannot be Googled, we are building a better relationship between Londoners and tourists and helping to keep us up there as one of the most approachable cities in the world.”

“Everyone is talking about the legacy of the games, but wouldn’t it be amazing if this positive feeling we have now was the real legacy”.

If you cannot get hold of a badge don’t fret, you can share your local London knowledge on twitter with the hash tag #asklondoners or keep the conversation going on Facebook. Or just keep smiling.
