Gimme Shelter - Charity fundraiser with PJ Harvey
A series of one-off events to mark the charity Shelter’s 50th anniversary. Gimme Shelter explores four main themes: art, music, literature and film. Featuring artists such as PJ Harvey and Ben Wheatley, the events will be held at various locations across London. Tickets will cost £10 per event, and the money goes to Shelter.
Launching the series, Shelter work with specialist events company Book Slam in presenting an evening of live readings with PJ Harvey, Tracey Thorne, Joe Dunthorne, Laura J Martin and Mark Watson - hosted by Salena Godden.

Book Slam are teaming up with Shelter to mark the housing and homelessness charity's fiftieth anniversary and to kick off their 'Gimme Shelter' season. A genuinely stellar line-up features PJ HARVEY reading from her collection 'The Hollow Of The Hand', and TRACEY THORN introducing us to 'Naked At The Albert Hall', a spellbinding memoir of singers and singing. Other guests include acclaimed comedian, novelist and general good egg, MARK WATSON, reading from his brilliant new book, 'The Place That Didn’t Exist', and one of our favourite writers and best of friends, JOE DUNTHORNE. Music comes from the dazzling singer-songwriter, LAURA J MARTIN. Hosted by the inimitable SALENA GODDEN.
