CREATIVE LAB Workshop: Twitter for Beginners - Getting Started
Do you panic when people ask you about Twitter? Do hashtags and handles scare you off? Have you yet to grasp how you as a creative could benefit from tweeting? If your answer is yes to these questions this is the perfect opportunity for you to get to grips with this social media platform.
SAF is organising a 2-hour beginners’ workshop run by Emily Benet, a writer and social media trainer, on Wednesday 1st April 2015 at 6.30pm-8.30pm. The workshop will cover:
Introduction to Twitter
Why be on Twitter
Elements of a Tweet
Choosing content
How to gain followers
The participants are encouraged to bring their handheld devices – mobile phones or tablets to engage with the content throughout the session and put the training straight into practice.
Previous workshop participants have been from a wide range of creative areas from jewellery design to film and from individual artists to small creative companies.

About Emily Benet: Emily is an author and social media enthusiast. Her first book Shop Girl Diaries began as a weekly blog, and was commissioned as a book and a short film. The blog won the Completely Novel Author Blog Awards and has been featured in guidebooks including Blogging for Creatives. She signed a 2 book deal with Harper Collins after getting a million hits on her serialised online novel The Temp. Emily has written on the benefits of using social networks, including Twitter, for several publications including Publishing Talk and Writers & Artists.
