Artsadmin’s Artists' Bursary Scheme
Artsadmin’s Artists' Bursary Scheme has been running since 1996 and has supported over 200 artists working in contemporary performance practices.
The 2016-17 round of the scheme was launched on 14 January, with generous support from Jerwood Charitable Foundation, Arts Council England, Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation and the Mercers’ Company.
This time the scheme offers nine awards to UK-based artists working in live art and contemporary performance who have been making work for ten years or less. Run by Artsadmin’s advisory team, the bursary offers a cash award, mentoring and advocacy for an 18-month period and an opportunity to present work at Toynbee Studios. This year at least two of the nine bursaries will be awarded to artists who identify as disabled.
More about the Bursary Scheme
The scheme supports artistic experiment, risk, speculation and play, rather than the production or touring of finished work. It offers time to explore processes and try out new ideas within a framework of constructive and critical dialogue.
Artsadmin's intention is to offer timely support to artists who would value a period to delve into the new, without pressure to produce a final result. The bursary is not a commission or production grant but a package of support oriented towards research and process that can be used flexibly according to each artist’s needs.
Deadline for applications: 16 February, noon
