Applications now open for Resolution 2016 dance platform at The Place
This open showcase is one of the UK’s most exciting dance seasons for its sheer range and diversity.Currently in its 27th year, Resolution is a unique platform for artists to present their work on an established London stage, as well as offering tailored support and guidance throughout the process, from application to post-performance.
This annual festival of short live dance and performance works by emerging artists has seen early career work by choreographers such as Luca Silvestrini (Protein), Wayne McGregor, Eva Recacha, Katie Prince (Zoonation), Frauke Requardt, Hofesh Shechter and most recently Barely Methodical Troupe (winner of the Total Theatre & Jacksons Lane Award for Circus).
The selected shows will be performed at The Place as part of a triple bill in either January or February 2016.
Resolution is open to all UK-based choreographers whose work fulfils the following criteria:
· The work features live dance performance
· The choreographer is a professional artist who is not in full time education, unless a postgraduate student
· The choreographer must be a full-time resident in the UK between the application deadline and performance date (those resident in Europe should apply to Aerowaves)
· Every company member must be able to provide proof, where appropriate, of their eligibility to work in the UK
· If selected, the work applied with should be the same as the work that is performed.
· The company will not present the work within 20 miles of the Theatre for a period of three months either side of Resoltion 2016
· The work is between 15 and 25 minutes long
· The work has simple technical requirements (each company will have a maximum of three hours technical preparation in the theatre on the day of the performance)
· Every Company member is over 18 years of age
· The work was not made whilst the choreographer was an undergraduate student
