Amy Lamé stands for selection as the Labour party candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood

You might know her from the stage of Olivier award winning art-club collective Duckie, or from her 10-year stint as co-presenter with Danny Baker on the BBC London radio breakfast show, or from her days as the Mayoress of London Borough of Camden - or even collaborating with performance superstar Scottee. If you know that much, you'll certainly be aware she's long been an active member of the Labour Party and brilliant charity campaigner. She's now stepping up to stand as the Labour party candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood. She's here to speak up, stand up, and get things done. Amy - we salute you! An interesting future awaits if Amy steps up the political ladder, possibly joined by Eddie Izzard in 2019 when he's due to run for Mayor. Fruity.

Here's what Amy says on why she's standing:

'I believe everyone - regardless of where they come from or who they are - deserves the chance to fulfill their potential and live a free and full life. For me, politics is the way to deliver that. But it’s not always easy. Our country is facing enormous challenges, More than ever people are struggling to get by - but distrust politics and politicians to deliver the change they need.

And quite frankly, sometimes I see why. Westminster doesn’t look or sound like our country. Grey men in grey suits, whose only life is party politics, speak in the same sound bites - and all too often simply don’t have the same experiences of working and trying to get by in our city..

I know I can bring something different to our constituency, and to Westminster. want to inspire our communities to be interested and involved in politics again. Because who we vote for and who represents us matters.

The Labour Party changed my life for the better, and I want more people to know how that feels. I want to build on Tessa’s incredible legacy, and to fight and deliver for Dulwich and West Norwood - and the country.

To do that I need your vote and your support.'
