Whilst we're the first to wince at the commercialisation of Valentine's Day, if it's an excuse for some shockingly rude merchandise, then we're back on board.

From Friday 10th until Tuesday 14th February Maiden on Shoreditch High Street will be selling a capsule collection of highly offensive cupcakes as part of their Valentine’s Day celebrations. These deliciously filthy cakes are £2 each, andare vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream. They are made using free range eggs and are suitable for vegetarians. All cakes are made locally in Hackney by Cakey Muto.Cakey Muto is a newly opened and fabulous new bakery/café/music venue on Chatsworth Road in Hackney. The cakes will be on sale at Maiden, 188 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6HU from Friday 10th February to Tuesday 14th February. Shop opening times are 11am to 7.30pm weekdays and 11am to 6pm weekends.

Our favourite purveyor of the explicit, Miss Cakehead, is back and is set to release ‘The Pocket Book of Vagina Cakes’, with just 28 days to fund the project… Priced at £10 she is asking for 300 people to effectively buy the book in advance, which will come complete with a scratch and sniff feature-wait!don't worry, we're assured it will smell of BUTTERCREAM.

In 2010 vagina cakes went mainstream in the UK - courtesy of Miss Cakehead’s Eat Your Heart Out & the Pretox Potion pop up 18+ cake shop (& Dawn French’s appearance on The One Show where she was presenting with one) - interest in this niche area of baking has only ever increased; she has even been asked to feed rock stars rude cakes at The Kerrang! Awards!

Pledges for the project will be used to commission 20 of the UK's top cake makers to create their version of this most subversive of all cakes, and have the resulting creations professionally photographed to create The Pocket Guide of Vagina Cakes, which the funders get in return. Other pledge options include an option to have a ‘bespoke’ cupcake created from a photograph. Following the book will be a 2013 vagina cake calendar to raise funds for cervical cancer charities.
