Interveiw by Anita Win

Sleaze is a Wild Cabaret Gameshow with lots of Shocking & Fun Cabaret Acts, GoGo Dancing, Games, Trivia Quizzes, Spin-the-Bottle, Raffle and Prizes!!!! All in the name of Freedom & Silliness!! Hosted and Devised by The Blonde Who Really Does Have More Fun: Trixie Malicious.

Sleaze is every 4th Thursday of the month at the newly opened Moth Club in Hackney Central.

The Big Re-Launch is Thursday September 24th 2015, Moth Club, Valette Street, Hackney, London, E9 6NU.

Anita: What inspired you to begin Sleaze?

Trixie: I started Sleaze with Mat Fraser because we wanted a burlesque show that was wild and punk and not so vintage based. We wanted it to be like a gameshow or a slightly out of control house party; fun and chaotic. We both performed a lot in New York, at places like the Slipper Room, and wanted a place like that for the London scene...it's always super fun and hectic and DIY. Not as glossy and polished as other shows but so homey and so much fun that the audience is always full of scene performers on their night off. We wanted another option aside from more glamorous burlesque; there were lots of genius performers at the time who didn't fit into the vintage themed nights so we thought we'd make a free for all and add games and prizes and dumb comedy.

Anita: Explain Sleaze in 4 words?

Trixie: Fun. Free (both in price and theme). Silly. Loving.

Anita: Now give us 4 words that Sleaze is not!

Trixie: Pretentious. Judgemental. Boring. Predictable.

Anita: What type of characters might you find in a Sleaze Audience?

Trixie: Well we stress that all are welcome; they just need an open mind and a positive vibe and we love them. Cabaret Enthusiasts, Performers, Artists, Fun-seekers, Beautiful Freaks, Nerds, Party-Goers, and sometimes Wide-Eyed Tourists?

Anita: What's the most outrageous act you've ever had at Sleaze? Where do you draw the line if ever?

Trixie: We've never drawn the line as of yet. We like anything outrageous or political or naked or whatever just as long as it is still fun and entertaining. We've had acts involving everything from glow in the dark strap-ons, unicorn butt plugs, baby jesus breastfeeding to anal fireworks. We don't mind as long as it's still a great act and they're coming from a good place. I guess I'd draw the line at a staunchly political act that was meant to shock but not entertain.

Anita: Who is the Sleaze team now?

Trixie: Well I host it and produce/devise it each month, and we have a regular Sleaze team: DJ Simon Hitman Hearn doing the music, Cairo as our uber glamourous Drag Queen GoGo Dancer, and Lilly SnatchDragon our thai bride who we bought to do the Grand-Prize Raffle and help onstage. We've been doing it together now for over 3 years so we're a little Sleaze family! I started it with Mat Fraser but after his role in American Horror Story he became based in New York. But I still call him often to discuss things and he sends me over great performers from NYC.

Anita: How would you describe your hosting style?

Trixie: Well I like to model myself on characters like Elvira or PeeWee Herman I guess- someone trying to keep in control of a wonderful madhouse. Onstage I like to be friendly and make people feel comfortable and tell horrendously bad jokes and make up ludicrous games. I guess my humour is sort of gentle and absurd.

Anita: What kind of games do you make up?

Trixie: We have some regular games that have theme songs and everything- One is "Drag In A Bag" we sing the song and then do drag makeovers to volunteers with celebrity drag mentors present and then they do a walk-off. Then we have lots of trivia quizzes- one for example is themed after the 90s boardgame Dreamphone so you phone one of the dream "hunks" to get the question. I made up an extremely weird game based on Silence of the Lambs called "It Puts The Lotion in the Basket", you have to put the lotion in the basket. You just have to see that one to get it. At the end of the night we always play spin-the-bottle...I'm making a new gameshow wheel for that one now for the 24th!

Anita: When's the next Sleaze?

Trixie: We are having a re-launch on Sept 24th. We've been away for the summer and now we have a new venue at Moth Club in Hackney Central. We're super excited, particularly because it's a great chance to expand our audience hopefully and because moth club has a gold glitter ceiling. It's going to be the 4th Thursday of every month now.

Anita: What's going to happen at the relaunch?

Trixie: Well it's all the usual Sleaze antics with great acts and games and prizes and raffle....But we are doing some extras for the launch- like bringing in a transportable pole for our pole-dancing act and we're also going to have our Sleaze Glam Shotz Mall Photo Booth set up at the back. We only have that on special occasions for people to get their misty mall glamour photo taken!

Anita: You have a catchphrase don't you?

Trixie: Absolutely! "Say Yes Please to Sleaze!" Thank you Anita!
