The Gig List 13: Anthony Chalmers lines up the week's best London gigs

So after a relative week off as most folks were away at SXSW I'm back to a usual week again. LOADS of ace shows to go to this week going to be exciting :)

Aaaaaand for the shows:

Monday:
There are a couple of big and great shows tonight but I think they are both sold out. Thats Magnetic Fields at The Barbican & Wild Beasts at Koko but since none of us are going to that unless you already knew about it no point me
giving them a plug sooooooooooo, I reckon the lovely Lucy Rose playing at The Luminaire has to be the one to go too. She has played a couple of times recently and has some really fantastic songs, recommend you check her out!

Tuesday:
Several good shows on Tuesday I'l be down at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen seeing Hyrst and then Damo Suzuki which should be a great gig. However Archie Bronson Outfit are also playing Puregroove which should be amazing. They are one of my favorite bands and seeing them in tiny record shop for free should be fantastic. There are several more fantastic gigs that night with David Thomas Broughton playing Luminiare & Silver Mt Zion playing Electric Ballroom too.

Wednesday:
Seems like a brilliant week at Luminaire (As if every week isn't a brilliant week at Lumi!) as Anika in London is hosting Claire & the Reasons with the lovely Laura Hocking supporting who played her first show with a new band with her last week and I a REALLY liked it. We also have The Twilight Sad playing The Garage; I haven't seen them yet but several friends of mine have them as one of their favorite bands on the last few years so gotta be worth checking out!

Thursday:
On Thursday it's my first show that I'm promoting of the week and it's going to be a winner! I have French Animator/DJ duo Gangpol & MIT down for there first ever London show with Agaskodo Teliverek as a co headliner. They are one of the best live bands in London so if you haven't seen them before you REALLY REALLY should! Also on the bill are Pheromoans who I'm yet to see but am really excited for as they sound great.

Apart from that Stanley Brinks at The Windmill & Tunng/Erland & the Carnival at The Garage look like winners to me!

Friday:
So coming up to the weekend if you want a more party clubnight sort of thing with great bands I'd go for The Brixton Windmill for Speak & the Spells & The Helmholtz Resonators for great South London promoters Shot by Both Sides!
If it's more of a gig gig your after then I think Owen Pallett at Koko has to be the one for you. Also The Murder Act are playing Hoxton Underbelly which should be good quite likely gonna be down there!

Saturday:
On Sat I'm down at The Slaughtered Lamb to see fantastic Edinburgh band Meursualt. I find them a little hard to place musically but somewhere along the lines of dark folk sort of thing isn't a million miles away! Also on the bill are Magic Lantern and French for Cartridge who are great. Apart from that one of my favorite bands Veronica Falls are playing at 93 Feet East which should be a winner.

Sunday:
I've been hunting around for a while for a really good gig on Sunday and the best one I can see has got to be Sunday Social at The Old Queens Head with Curly Hair playing live. The Old Queens Head is lovely especially their Sunday's and it's hosted by the Bloody Awful Poetry guys who are ace too.

Reckon that's it for me, enjoy the week of shows!

x Anthony
