Brian Blessed, king of the beard, maker of loud noises graces London with his traditionally peculiar presence this week. Famed for his 'hearty, king-sized portrayals' we know him best for his roaring and earth-shattering laughter. In what all started in a fan-created Facebook group, as all hip things do in this modern age, in which Blessed fans rallied together with an aim to get the noisy actor to take up a mantle as the voice of TomTom. Think:  "SPEED CAMERA IN 300 YARDS - OH WELL, WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER???"  

Today marks a bit of a celebration as TomTom acknowledge the power of the people and have brought the idea to life. Thursday 4th Nov 2010 will see an official beard-based flashmob-party in aid of it, with Brian Blessed himself, and lots and lots of beards. Get your finest Brian Blessed gear on and don a beard to meet the man himself.  If you're without a beard, having just shaved to start November or of the feminine persuasion, Tomtom promise beards and other Blessed-esque accoutrements to wear and hang off your face and impress him with.  For us, we're thinking something out of Blackadder or Flash Gordon, and of course with lots of obligatory roaring.

It'll be taking place in Central London with the actual location being released the day before (Weds, 4rd Nov) on the Facebook page.  We can't wait to shake our bellies with him. If you can't make it, you can fill your car with his embracing voice as of Thursday, though we recommend turning the volume down first: "HAWKMEN!!! DRIVE!!!!"
