The 55th BFI London film festival is showing so many brilliant films this year, but I wanted to draw your attention to these two which I've been looking forward to for ages.

50/50 stars the ridiculously charismatic Joseph Gordon Leviitt. Inspired by writer Will Reiser's own experiences, 50/50 is an original story of friendship, love, survival - and finding humour in unlikely places. Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Kyle (Seth Rogen) are best friends whose lives are changed when Adam is diagnosed with cancer.

The Future is the latest offering from actress, artist, director, writer and all round genius Miranda July.If you haven't seen her first film, 'Me,you and everyone we know' then you should.Then see this.Both are uniquely dark yet funny, disturbing yet uplifting.
