A solo exhibition and seminar series convened by London-based artist Sidsel Meineche Hansen.

Exploring the relationship between queer feminism, technology and biopolitics SECOND SEX WAR presents two new commissions delivered from the artist’s research into the intersection between the human body and capital. Using the unresolved debates on anti-patriarchal sex as a starting point the exhibition seeks to carve out a cyber-feminist position within - or against - the standards of the adult entertainment and digital gaming industries. Focusing on how the gender binary is (re)produced in virtual adult entertainment, the body of work takes form in a series of polymer clay sculptures and an animated video, viewed through Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets, foregrounding Meineche Hansen’s research into the body and its industrial complex, through combining her own low-tech manual craft with outsourced, skilled digital labour.

During the exhibition Meineche Hansen will also organise a series of seminars, bringing together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields to critically reflect on the issues at stake in her work (check website for further updates).
