Join the Roof Unit gang in their new loft space on Roman Road as they showcase new and unreleased work from three photographers who are successfully carving out a niche in the industry.
Jason Larkin has recently returned from South Africa and before that 2 years living in Cairo. Jason blends personal work with documentary assignments from leading publications such as Monocle and GEO. His work seeks to engage and reflect peripheral current affairs and issues such as identity and social environments. Jason is currently back in the UK to complete the Open Here commission for the Hereford Photography Festival.
Ben Roberts was selected as one of PDN’s 30 ‘new and emerging photographers to watch’ in 2010. Amongst commercial commissions his personal images explore fringe landscapes with a deep-rooted geographical connection. Recent projects include “The Gathering Clouds” documenting the sharp-decline of the Spanish economy and project-in-progress “The Seventh Zone” an exploration of the outer limits of London’s transport system.
Laura Pannack is a portrait photographer based in the UK. In 2010, she received first prize in Portrait Singles category of the World Press Photo Awards before receiving best in show at the Host Foto 8 Show and third prize for the Terry O’Neil awards. She has recently been named as ‘one to watch’ in 2011 by Creative Review as she migrates her personal style into advertising and editorial commissions. Her carefully lit and posed portraits bring a meditative calm to the images.
Each three artists will introduce their own work followed by a Q & A which will be chaired by Toby Smith, founder of Roof Unit and contemporary reportage photographer.
For those that want to join, we'll head to a local boozer after the event for a bit of idle chit chat!
