An evening of death drawing, spine chilling ghost stories & Victorian spirit
Take part in an Art Macabre Death Drawing salon with a difference in the lead up to Christmas. Within the unique setting of Barts Pathology Museum (housing over 5000 medical specimens to be viewed and sketched), enjoy an evening of death drawing, spine chilling Victorian ghost stories, mulled wine and mince pies as you’re surrounded by skulls. Featuring storytelling performance by Jonathan Goodwin, from Don’t Go Into the Cellar! The British Empire’s finest practitioners of theatrical Victoriana. Building on the tradition of the Christmas ghost story, listen to classic spine chilling tales from writers such as Charles Dickens and MR James. Create your own unique illustrations to the stories, as Art Macabre models pose nude and costumed, portraying the characters within the tales to be told in a series of theatrical themed tableaux.
Warm up with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie as you enjoy the rare opportunity to view the specimens within the pathological pots housed on the ground floor of the Grade II listed Barts Pathology Museum- each with their own curious tale to tell. The museum is closed to the general public, so this event offers a precious chance to view the collection up close and sketch its specimens- allowing you to create some truly unique Christmas cards from your drawings, perhaps?
Price includes entry to the museum, storytelling performance, drawing materials provided (pens, paper, charcoal- bring along paper/sketchpad), a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.
Over 18s only.
