Rules of the game of poker

Knowing some simple rules and gambling etiquette will help you get used to a new environment faster if you are playing poker for the first time.

Placement of players at the gambling table

If a casino has several tables for playing poker, then there is usually a casino employee in this area, who should explain to you what games the casino offers, what are the bets at different tables, as well as the specific rules of the casino. If at the moment all the seats at the gambling tables are occupied, then floman should enter your name in the sitin list-the landing list. When the place assigned to you is vacant, floman will inform you about it and indicate it at the gambling table. In Russian casinos, places are usually empty at all.

When a new player sits down at a table where the game is already being played, he chooses any free place.

When several players sit at an empty table at the beginning of the game, they choose their seats randomly. As a rule, there are no objections and disputes about who and where to sit. But if any player still wants to take a certain place, then they proceed as follows. The dealer gives each player one card face up. The player with the highest card sits to the right of the dealer, the player with the next highest card sits to the right of the first player, and so on. If two players have cards of the same rank, the one that was received earlier is considered the highest.

Two players sitting at the table can switch places by mutual agreement after the end of any game, before new cards have been dealt.

After the game has started, no one can request the transfer of players at the gambling table, at least during the first hour of the game (if the rules of a particular casino allow this).

Buy-in-purchase of playing chips

After sitting down at the table, you must purchase playing chips from the dealer. As a rule, the minimum amount of all purchased chips is equal to 5-10 denominations corresponding to the largest bets. For example, if the highest bet at the table is $ 10, then the total amount of chips you bought should be $ 50-100. Any purchase of chips at the gambling table can only occur before the cards are dealt.

Your first game

If you are playing for the first time, do not hesitate and inform the dealer about it. He will briefly explain the rules of the game to you. And other players will be more tolerant if you slow down the game. In this case, with the permission of other players, you can simply watch the game for several games to understand its entire course.

If there are any difficulties during the game, contact the dealer for help. For example, you can ask whose turn it is, specify the value of your bet when responding to a number of increases, etc.

Duties of the dealer

The dealer's duties include a brief explanation of the rules of the game to a new player, selling playing chips, shuffling and distributing all cards, collecting rejected or discarded cards, announcing the moments of the game and the order of the players ' moves, determining the winning player, collecting commission money in favor of the casino, moving the dealer button, monitoring the exact execution of all the rules of the game and identifying unauthorized actions of players in relation to opponents. To clarify acute controversial issues, the dealer must invite the casino manager responsible for all games in the card sector.

Batn Dealer

In the casino, the cards are shuffled and dealt only by the dealer. To mark the course of the game and the order of distribution of cards, the dealer batn is used - the dealer button is a round plastic disk that moves clockwise around the gambling table from player to player. The player who is on the dealer button receives the cards last. The player sitting to the left of the dealer button receives the cards first and in most games must open the game, that is, make the first bet.

To determine the position of the dealer button in the very first game, the dealer distributes one card face up to all players. The player who gets the jack first gets the dealer button.

Shuffling and distribution of cardssinos have their own requirements for shuffling cards, which, as a rule, are reduced to the following. The deck must be shuffled at least three times. The deck must be removed before the cards are dealt. When removed, it is divided into two approximately equal parts. The cards are dealt clockwise and start with the player sitting to the left of the dealer button.

Before the dealer has started dealing the second card to the players, any player who has not yet had time to see his first card can demand a new shuffle and retake the cards if he finds that the deck has not been shuffled or removed, or any card is turned face up at the time of removing the deck. When removing the deck, less than 5 cards are left in one of its parts. Two or more cards are turned face up. The deck is incomplete. The cards were distributed to the players out of order.

If the dealer deals a player a larger or smaller number of cards than the rules require, and the player notices this before. before he has time to look at his cards, the dealer must correct his mistake - add or take away one or more cards. If the player has already seen his cards, they are considered unplayed and the player returns his initial ante bet. If the player, without noticing the error, continues the game, then his cards are considered "dead"; regardless of their combination, the player loses all bets made by him during the game!

If in draw poker, when replacing cards, the dealer gives a larger or smaller number of cards than the player demanded, then the same rule applies here: if the player has already looked at any of the new cards or added them to his cards, then all his cards are considered "dead"!

The player can correct his reservation related to the number of cards that he wants to replace, but only if the dealer has not yet managed to give him these cards.

If a player rejects the wrong number of cards that he called, and the dealer gives him as many cards as the player demanded, then this player's cards are "dead"!

If a card is opened during the distribution or replacement of cards, as well as if the card being dealt is already lying face up in the deck, then in all cases the player to whom this card was intended must accept it, but any additional open card must already be replaced. In this case, the dealer shifts the open card to the poppy, and, having missed the player to whom this card was intended, continues to deal cards to others, and distributes the missing card to the player last.

If in stud poker the dealer gives the player a hole card face up, the player must accept this card as an up card and notify the dealer about this, who will deal the next card face down.

If in stud poker, after the next cards are dealt to all players (that is, at the time of any betting interval), a card is turned face up at the top of the deck, then this card is not dealt to the player and is transferred to the mac at the next hand.

Do not touch other people's cards and chips

During the game, do not touch the cards and playing chips of other players. Also, do not touch rejected cards (mac), bod or community cards and chips that are in the pot. Only the dealer has the right to touch and move all these cards and pot.

Keep your cards private

No one is allowed to look at your cards, unless you decide to play for charity yourself. Keep in mind that other players are unlikely to miss the opportunity to make money on any of your mistakes.

Remember that if you intentionally show your cards to another player, then his and your cards may be considered "dead".

Protect your cards

If you put your cards on the gambling table during the online poker, then put a playing chip on top of it, which will protect them from accidentally dropping into the poppy or mixing with the cards of other players.

In many games, by dropping your cards on the table and leaving them unprotected, you thereby signal to the dealer that you are folding (fould). In addition, if the cards of other players accidentally touch your unprotected cards at the moment when they stack, then your cards can also be recognized as fould.

When you open your cards in the showdown, also do not lose control. If at this moment one of your cards falls face down from the table or on the table among the previously rejected cards (mac), then all your cards will be declared "dead". This decision is made by the dealer even when the dropped card is not used to make a combination.

Act in turn

Although you can see that other players perform various actions (fold, check, raise, etc.) not in turn, never do it yourself. Such haste is unethical, since in certain situations it can be a trick to involve other players in the game or, conversely, to force them to lay down their cards.

If a player breaks the queue ahead of you, then say "Time"! or "Wait"! - to make it clear that you have not acted yet.

If you want to replace cards in draw poker, do it in turn. If a player allows the player to the left of him to make a replacement, ahead of the order, this means that the player refuses to make any replacement of his cards.

Random receipt

In some fast-moving games, the moment of your inaction, when it's your turn to act, can be regarded as a check.

If you need some time to make a decision, say "time", "a minute" to pause the game. While you are thinking, do not tap your fingers on the table and do not make gestures with your hands - this can also be regarded as a check.

Splash sweat - Splash sweat

The situation when a player throws his playing chips into the pot, mixing them with previously set bets. This makes it difficult for the dealer and other players to determine the correctness of his bet.

When making your bet, put the playing chips right in front of you, the dealer will make sure that you have made the right bet, and will move your chips into the pot.
